About Us

Advancement Services supports the alumni and friends database and the overall University Advancement fundraising and engagement activities with a focus on reporting, accessibility, reliability, and accountability.

These support services include gift administration, stewardship and acknowledgement, and the development, management and maintenance of alumni and donor constituent information storage and delivery systems.

It is the responsibility of Advancement Services to safeguard all the information collected by and resulting from the pursuit of the mission and goals of University Advancement.  Advancement Services continuously strives to improve systems and provide the most relevant and useful information to its users.

Our Staff   
 


with a background in both corporate and higher education human resources, assumed the role as Director of Advancement Services at East Tennessee State University in November of 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Mars Hill University and an M.B.A. from Milligan College. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at East Tennessee State University. As the Director of Advancement Services within ETSU’s Office of University Advancement, Shea is responsible for the overall direction and management of  the Advancement Services unit, a comprehensive operation including overseeing all aspects of gift processing, gift stewardship, alumni and donor record management, financial management, prospect research and management, database and software management, data security, data reporting, and serving as the Advancement team lead for the continual development and implementation of the Banner Advancement system and associated programs. In 2009, she received the “Most Outstanding Member of the Banner Advancement Team” award. She has served two terms on the ETSU Staff Senate and currently serves as a member of various ETSU committees related to leadership and technology. Shea is a member of the Association for Advancement Services Professionals (AASP).

 
currently serves as the Senior Technology Coordinator within the Advancement Services unit. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 from ETSU in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science, and worked for nearly three years within the Quillen College of Medicine’s Office of Academic Affairs before moving to the Office of Alumni Records in September 1996.  His primary duties include reporting from the Banner Advancement database, compiling reports using data from multiple sources (such as the annual Voluntary Support of Education Survey), maintaining pledge records, payroll deductions, and gift society memberships, and providing technical training as needed to Advancement, Advancement Services, and Alumni staff, while also assisting the Director of Advancement Services with management duties. Donald is a member of the Association for Advancement Services Professionals (AASP).


currently serves as the Technology Coordinator within Advancement Services.  She began as a part-time employee for University Advancement in May 2013, and began working for Advancement Services in August 2013.  She attained a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2010 from ETSU with a major in Economics, and a minor in Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies.  Haley completed her Master of Business Administration degree in 2012 from ETSU.  Her primary duties include reporting from the Banner Advancement database, prospect research and management, data maintenance, researching constituents, and assisting the Director of Advancement Services with technical and personnel management duties.    


currently holds the title of Gift Processor, and became a member of Advancement Services in 2009. Anthony earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Technology from Cleveland State Community College in 2008. His primary duties include reporting from the Banner Advancement database, management of daily operation functions, all reporting and data management for the semi-annual WETS-FM Share-a-thon and annual Alumni Phonathon, while assisting the Director of Advancement Services with duties as necessary. He also serves as the Advancement/Foundation Webmaster


currently holds the title of Gift Processor, and has been a member of the Advancement Services team since 2009. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration, both from ETSU. His primary duties include receiving, documenting, and processing all donations and other transactions received by the ETSU Foundation, management of the donor acknowledgement and stewardship process, matching gift process, as well as the management of student workers within the Advancement Services Unit.


currently serves as the part-time Gift Processor for Advancement Services. She began working for the unit in the spring of 2014.  Carla earned her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 1987 from ETSU.  Her primary duties include assisting with gift processing, acknowledgement and stewardship process, and data maintenance.
