2013 Fall Jazz at the Culp
"Only for One Night"
December 6, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: $15 General Admission, $10 Senior Adults (60+) & $5 Students with ID
Master jazz trumpeter Wallace Roney continues to be the vanguard not only of the present but the future of jazz. Roney's diversity has allowed him to amass a body of work far more indicative of where he's always wanted to be. Roney continues to paint a broad picture of an artist for whom the lifelong arc of Miles Davis remains an influence, but one distanced from mere mimicry through greater technical facility and an all-encompassing approach to collating a broad set of interests that's in sharp contrast with Davis' more linear evolutionary approach. Roney joins The Jazz Doctors for a complete sextet set along with joining the ETSU Jazz Ensemble for a set in its 11 year musical journey under the direction of Bach Artist and ETSU Professor of Trumpet and Jazz Studies – David Champouillon.
