CFA Institute Research Challenge
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a worldwide intercollegiate competition between teams of students. The challenge brings together students and industry professionals for a once in a life-time experience. The challenge itself is organized by local CFA societies and teams that win their local region and continue on to compete at the national level. In 2011, the America's region was held in Omaha, Nebraska where Warren Buffett spoke. The winner of the national competition competes against the top global teams. The challenge itself involves writing and presenting an in-depth valuation report. In 2011, 2,500 students, 546 universities, 1,200 industry professionals, and 102 Local CFA societies were involved.
In our first year of competing, ETSU won the Nashville region and went on to compete at the America's Region in Omaha. Limited to five students or less, team members are selected on a competitive basis. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.
