CPT Donald Crowe
Donald Crowe was born in 1937 and raised in Johnson City, TN. Captain Crowe was a member of the East Tennessee State College class of 1959 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of the Artillery Branch of Service. His outstanding performance as an ROTC Cadet ultimately earned him the honor of Distinguished Military Graduate.
Later in 1959, Captain Crowe entered service as an Army Officer. He attended Artillery Officers Basic Course at Fort Sill, OK; Nike Ajax Missile School at Fort Bliss, TX; and Jungle Warfare School in Panama. He had high hopes of making the Army his career. Captain Crow worked extremely hard toward his career until the sudden death of his father changed his plans. Upon returning home to Johnson City, TN, Captain Crowe’s final Army assignment was to serve as a dedicated ROTC instructor at East Tennessee State University from 1962 - 1965. Captain Crowe was the first graduate to return as an ROTC Cadre member. His complete time on campus spanned the time periods of both East Tennessee State College and East Tennessee State University.
Captain Crowe was very thankful that he was able to honor his commitment to the United States Army and East Tennessee State University. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge in June of 1965, he remained in Johnson City to take over the family business and became owner / operator of Broadway Motel until his retirement.
