Why Quillen
I started spending time at Quillen during my sophomore year of undergrad, and quickly saw that it was the perfect fit for me.  I love the primary care focus, the kind and caring attitude of the faculty, students, and staff, and the small class size.

Being a Quillen Student
Quillen is a great place.  The faculty are very caring and have an open door policy with students.  The professors and clinical faculty are more than willing to explain things and to mentor you as you seek to find the specialty that best fits you.  I really like that Quillen has classes like Case Oriented Learning, Health Care Communication, and Clinical Preceptorships that expose you to aspects of a clinical setting beginning in the first semester.  Quillen truly does a good job of training its students to be patient centered physicians, and I have greatly enjoyed that.  The block scheduling first year is a challenge, but then again, taking 37 credit hours per semester is a challenge no matter how you look at it.

Prior Life
I grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, as the daughter of missionaries.  I moved to the U.S. in 2006 for undergrad, when I came to North East Tennessee to play tennis for ETSU.  I met my husband while we were in undergrad, and now we are enjoying the challenge of going through Quillen at the same time.

Living in Northeast Tennessee
I love it!  I grew up in a big city where it was not safe to be out at night alone, and it is so nice to feel safe.  The fall and spring are beautiful here, and I have greatly enjoyed the outdoor activities that the area has to offer, like mountain bike paths, the Appalachian Trail, and white water rafting.  The only down side about this area of the country is that it is terrible for asthma and allergies, so be prepared to take your Zyrtec every day!
