About the Region

East Tennessee State University is located in Johnson City, a community of nearly 60,000 residents (with over 500,000 residents in the metropolitan area) in the northeast corner of Tennessee, the Volunteer State.  The region is situated in the heart of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, nestled in the ridges and valleys of Roan Mountain, the Great Smoky Mountains, and the majestic forests of North Carolina.
