ETSU promotes Fahrig to chief of cardiology

JOHNSON CITY – Dr. Stephen A. Fahrig of ETSU Heart has been named chief of cardiology at East Tennessee State University's James H. Quillen College of Medicine.

Fahrig earned his doctor of medicine degree from The Ohio State University and completed an internal medicine residency at The Ohio State University Hospital, followed by a cardiology fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He then went on to complete a two-year fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology and is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association (AHA) and the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology. Last year, he served as co-chair of the AHA's 2001 Heart Gala in Johnson City.
