Washington County School Based Health Centers

Washington County School Based Health Centers

Washington County School-Based Health Centers have grown from the original center at David Crockett High School, which opened in 1993, to include centers at Daniel Boone High School and Jonesborough Elementary School. These health centers are funded through a partnership between the College of Nursing and the Board of Education. Primary nurse-managed care is available on site to school-age children, as well as teachers, staff and some family members.

The ETSU College of Nursing School-Based Clinics at David Crockett, Daniel Boone, and Jonesborough Elementary schools have been operating free of charge since opening in 1993. The clinics have been financially supported by ETSU and Washington County Schools. Because of upcoming budget constraints, some of the services provided will now be billed for.

Services that will not be a charged include visits for: First aid, medication only, dressing changes, minor visits where only a nurse visit is needed.

For those with insurance the co-pay will be billed to parents. For those without insurance coverage, there will be a sliding scale based on income. Many students will be exempt from charges due to income. Please think of the school-based clinics as a safe and convenient place for your children to be seen for minor illnesses and urgent care issues at school. Your child will continue to be referred back to their primary care practitioner as needed.

For insurance and TnCare billing, we will need the information on the insurance card. The current Consent Form for students has a place for this information on page 2 of that form. The clinics will need the Consent Form filled out in full and return to when student starts school. A copy of the forms will also be available on-line at the Washington County Schools web site.
