Selection timeline for the 2013-2014 academic year: 
Nomination files sent to high schools mid-August 2013                                   
Deadline to submit nominations October 16, 2013
Roan information session (ETSU Fall Open House) November 2, 2013
Regional interviews conducted November 18-22, 2013
Nominees notified of status; finalists invited to campus Week of November 25, 2013
Roan finalist interviews conducted January 7, 2014
Roan Class of 2018 notified Week of January 13, 2014
Deadline to accept Roan scholarship February 1, 2014

Note (especially for students who are high school juniors during spring 2014): our timeline for the 2014-2015 academic year will be finalized during summer 2014, but will likely look similar to what's above.

Regional interviews are conducted by committees made up of community leaders, chosen because they exhibit the same types of qualities and characteristics we look for in our Scholars. Finalist interviews are conducted by the Roan Steering Committee.

Admission to East Tennessee State University is a separate, but required, component of the Roan nomination process. Students must complete their ETSU application no later than October 15, 2013. To apply, coordinate directly with the Admissions Office:
