Program donors honored at “An Evening With the Roan”

Program for Donors Generosity and gratitude were the common themes last Friday (February 21st) in the Millennium Centre ballroom, as donors were honored by the Roan Program during "An Evening With the Roan." This special reception, attended by current Roan Scholars, Roan Alumni, and supporters of the Roan Program, was intended simply as a way of saying "thank you" to all those whose gifts and support have helped make the Program what it is today. Established in 1997 by Mr. Louis H. Gump, to attract the region's most promising young leaders and help develop their leadership potential, the Roan continues today to be primarily privately-funded, reliant upon support from individuals and organizations who see the Roan as a way to invest in the future and provide development opportunities for promising future leaders.

Roan Director Scott Jeffress shared a short Program update with attendees, who also heard remarks from ETSU President, Dr. Brian Noland, and Mr. Gump. A video presentation, featuring comments from Roan Scholars past and present, parents, Steering Committee members, and other friends of the Roan, was a highlight of the evening – as was the chance for donors to interact with the Scholars. "What a privilege and honor it was to represent our firm (tonight), said one guest. "These young men and women are indeed the cream of the crop, and I am so proud as a ETSU grad to see my university so well represented into the future." Scholars greatly enjoyed being able to talk with guests, and to thank them in person for their support.
