Scholarship for Veterans

ETSU is grateful to those who have honorably served our country
and is pleased to offer assistance with the cost of education.


The ETSU Office Veterans Affairs is available to assist all military veterans and their dependents with education benefits available under the various Department of Veterans Affair (DVA) programs.


Additionally, ETSU is proud to offer 2 scholarship programs to assist out-of-state veterans with the costs of out-of-state tuition. The Yellow Ribbon Program and the BucHero scholarship.


YELLOW RIBBON PROGRAM:

Yellow RibbonThe Yellow Ribbon Program is administered through the ETSU Office of Veterans Affairs and provides scholarship assistance to match funding provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs as a supplement to the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

 

 

BUC HERO SCHOLARSHIP:

The BucHero Scholarship is intended to assist out-of-state veterans who do not qualify for the Yellow Ribbon Scholarship with the cost of out-of-state tuition.

Veterans who qualify:

To be eligible the applicant must have served (or be currently serving) as a member of the Guard, Reserves, or Active Duty, and released from the military under “Honorable” conditions. Applicants must provide a copy of form DD-214 (Discharge from Active Duty). Applicants who have more than one DD214 must provide the most recent copy.

Freshmen:

  • Minimum high school GPA of 3.0 and
  • Minimum ACT composite of 22 or SAT score of 1020 (Math and Critical Reading scores only)
  • Applicants who do not meet these academic criteria may be considered based on length of service, MOS classification, or military credit earned

Transfers:

  • Minimum transfer GPA of 3.2 and
  • Minimum of 24 transferrable hours
  • Applicants who do not meet these academic criteria may be considered based on length of service, MOS classification, or military credit earned

Graduate Students:

  • Graduate students will automatically be considered for the scholarship upon admission to a graduate degree program or graduate certificate program.

Renewal criteria:

The scholarship is renewable for three additional years for undergraduates by maintaining an overall GPA of at least 2.5 and passing a minimum of 12 credits per semester. The scholarship is renewable for up to two years for master’s degree students by maintaining an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and passing a minimum of 9 credits per semester. The scholarship is renewable for up to five years for educational specialists and doctoral students by maintaining an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and passing a minimum of 9 credits per semester.
