Graduate Council
Charge
Graduate Council is a faculty governance unit at ETSU. Graduate Council’s voting body is composed of faculty representatives of each college along with non-voting members of the Graduate School and other constituent campus
units. As indicated in its charge, Graduate Council
• formulates all policies related to graduate education;
• considers new graduate degree programs;
• reviews and as appropriate approves graduate courses and curriculum;
• appoints graduate faculty members;
• reviews completed program reviews to determine need, assess quality, and evaluate
enrollment and number of degrees awarded.
Organization
The Graduate Council has two Committees: Graduate Faculty and Graduate Curriculum.
• The Graduate Faculty Committee meets on the third (3rd) Monday of September,
October, November, January, February, March, and April to review graduate faculty
applications that have been received by the first Friday of the month.
• The Graduate Curriculum Committee meets on Zoom the first (1st) and third (3rd)
Monday of September, October, November, January, February, March, and April (as agenda
items warrant) and holds one summer meeting in June.
• The full Graduate Council meets on the fourth (4th) Monday of September, October,
November, January, February, March by Zoom and in-person in April.
The Graduate School’s Executive Aide records minutes for the Curriculum Committee and Graduate Council, and the Graduate School’s Office Manager supports the Graduate Faculty Committee.
