SAGE Research Training Methods for Faculty Staff  
December 19, 2019, at 1:00pm EST, in the Sherrod Library
Attend this custom training session to learn more about how SAGE Research Methods (SRM) can help with every step of the research process.  In this session, you will learn more about SRM and its content – including dictionary and encyclopedia entries, book chapters, full books, journal articles, and the complete Quantitative Applications in the Social Sciences and Qualitative Research Methods series.

In addition, online CITI Program course is recommended for the following topics:

Assistance with NIH ASSIST

ASSIST (Application Submission System & Interface for Submission Tracking) is a web-based system used to prepare and submit applications through Grants.gov to NIH.  Being web-based, it eliminates the need to download an "application package" and e-mail it around to the various individuals who need to work on it.

ASSIST allows participants to do the following:

  • Use your current eRA Commons credentials to log in to ASSIST
  • Delegate application preparation responsibilities to other people, both within and outside your organization, while you maintain appropriate access control and security
  • Populate data from established eRA Commons profiles (note:  this means that if you are going to be listed as a senior/key person on a coming application, please update your eRA Commons profile before you begin the application in ASSIST)
  • Run validations on federal-wide and agency business rules prior to submission
  • Generate Table of Contents, headers, footers, page numbers, etc. automatically
  • Print/Preview applications prior to submission in the format used by the agency
  • Present to reviewers clear, color PDF images rather than scanned versions of the application

Public Access Compliance and NIH & NCBI

The NIH Public Access Policy is an open access mandate requiring that research papers describing research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) be available to the public through PubMed Central within 12 months of publication.

NCBI is the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).  MyNCBI is a tool that retains user information and database preferences to provide customized services for the many NCBI databases.  

MyBibliography (embedded on the MyNCBI homepage) is a reference tool that helps you save your citations from PubMed or, if not found there, to manually upload a citations file or to enter citation information using My Bibliography templates.

SciENcv (Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae), available in MyNCBI, is a researcher profile system for all individuals who apply for, receive, or are associated with research investments from federal agencies.
