Nicole Prior received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia in 1994 and a Master of Clinical Psychology in 2000 from Appalachian State University. She completed her Doctorate in Criminology from Florida State University in 2010. Her dissertation examined the link between effective alternative education and juvenile delinquency.

Dr. Prior's research and teaching interests include corrections, specifically officer-inmate relations and correctional treatment programs, juvenile delinquency, criminological theory, gangs, and hate crimes.
