Edward Falls is currently an independent scholar living in east TN, teaching online as a part-time adjunct faculty for schools such as (and including) ETSU. His research is in mereology, foundations of logic, idealism, and philosophy of mysticism. He teaches a range of courses, from Introduction to Religious Studies, to Environmental Ethics. He completed a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2021. The focus of his dissertation was John McDowell’s ethical naturalism. He completed a PhD in Religion at Emory University, in 2010, focusing on Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. Before going to Emory, he completed master’s degrees in Languages and Cultures of Asia, and in Philosophy, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied from 1997 to 2005. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1997, double majoring in Philosophy and Medieval Studies, with minors in Religious Studies and English. Before attending college, he lived in LaFollette, TN, during the 70s and 80s. He has two daughters who are grown and married, and he has two young grandsons, one step-grandson, and a granddaughter on the way. His hobbies include guitar, fantasy fiction, and tabletop gaming.
