Dr. Ian Hensley is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy. He earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 2016 and began teaching at ETSU in 2020. His research focuses on natural philosophy in ancient Greece and Rome and its connections to contemporary philosophical problems in metaphysics and philosophy of mind. He has published several articles on the Stoics in the Journal of the History of Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Classical Philology, Apeiron, and other venues. In addition to teaching our course on the History of Ancient Philosophy, Dr. Hensley has also taught courses on Medieval and Arabic Philosophy, as well as a course on Stoicism.
