Ümit Saglam, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Management, in the Department of Management and Supply Chain at the College of Business and Technology. Dr. Saglam received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Decision Sciences & MIS Department at the LeBow College of Business of Drexel University and his dual undergraduate degrees in the Honors Program in Mathematics and Economics from Istanbul Bilgi University and London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE). During his Ph.D. study, he spent one academic year in Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE) department at Princeton University, as a visiting Ph.D. student. Currently, his research projects focus on energy economics and management, portfolio optimization and behavioral operations management, and they have been published at top-field academic journals.
Dr. Saglam’s research has received considerable recognition in academia, and he was awarded the Outstanding Economics Stream Research Award (2013) by LeBow College of Business of Drexel University, and the Faculty Excellence Award for Research (2018) from the Dean of the College of Business and Technology of East Tennessee State University. In addition, Dr. Saglam has been awarded the New Faculty Excellence Award (2018), and the Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching (2019).
Currently, Dr. Saglam teaches analytical approaches for how to model complex business situations in his Decision Science and Production Operations Management courses.
