Welcome to the Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics Program (MSOP) at East Tennessee State University!
The MSOP program at East Tennessee State University is dedicated to producing highly skilled practitioner-scholars capable of providing exceptional, evidence-based healthcare services. As the only program of its kind in the state of Tennessee, we offer a unique and comprehensive curriculum that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to excel in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. Our program emphasizes interprofessional collaboration, promoting teamwork with other healthcare disciplines to enhance patient outcomes. The MSOP program is 24 months long, consisting of eight sessions ranging between 12 and 16 weeks designed specifically to prepare students for entry into the profession.
MSOP Program Mission:
Our mission is to prepare competent practitioner-scholars to provide evidence-based services for individuals requiring orthotic/prosthetic care in Southern Appalachia and beyond.
We are dedicated to fostering interprofessional collaboration, ensuring that patient care is significantly informed and effective through teamwork with other disciplines. Our program emphasizes the importance of evidence-based best practices by encouraging participation in scientific inquiry and clinically relevant research.
The first cohort is expected January 2025.
ETSU is seeking initial accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Education Programs (CAAHEP). The program has been awarded Candidacy by the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE), which is required in the pre-accreditation stage and prior to entrance of the first cohort. Award of Candidacy by NCOPE does not guarantee that the program will be granted Accreditation by CAAHEP but signals the program is progressing towards initial accreditation.
