Types of Services
The Center of Excellence in STEM Education will
- Emphasize empowering educators through professional learning experiences, networking, and regional events to enhance their STEM teaching and the performances of their early childhood, elementary, and secondary students.
- Develop purposeful partnerships among communities, businesses, industry, government, and education that focus on interdisciplinary and community-based initiatives.
- Support a Governor's School in the Integration of Biological and Statistical Sciences that features a cutting edge interdisciplinary approach to STEM education.
- Support the revisioning of University School, ETSU's campus K - 12 laboratory school, as a STEM-focused signature school.
- Facilitate linkage with the federal government, with regional compacts (SREB), with other colleges and universities, with state agencies and organizations (TBR, THEC, SBE, SDE) that pursue similar agendas, and with other agencies or foundations that support STEM education.
- Provide a website highlighting resources that are useful to STEM educators.
- Serve as key source in disseminating useful information, tools, and consulting service to support STEM education.
- Pursue strategies and create experiences to enhance teacher preparation and teacher professional development.
- Explore and seek support for programs aimed at increasing the supply and quality of STEM educators in Tennessee's workforce.
- Provide free resources via a Lending Library to support regional teachers in STEM
