How it works
You can become a patient in the Integrative Medicine clinic at ETSU Family Medicine Associates by one of three ways. First, if you are already one of our Family Medicine patients you can ask your primary doctor to refer you for an Integrative Medicine clinic visit, or directly to the Acupuncture or Osteopathic clinics.
Second, if you currently see another provider for your care you can have them refer you to the Integrative Medicine clinic, or contact your insurance company directly and see if you need a referral to come to our clinic.
Third, if you currently do not have a primary care physician, or if you are looking to change providers you can call our office to establish a new patient appointment with our clinic. We can see you for both Primary care and Integrative medicine.
No matter how you become our patient the Integrative Medicine clinic, we will address your medical issues in a comprehensive approach, with a focus on treating the whole you your mind, body and spirit.
Your first office visit
What can you expect at your first visit to the Integrative Medicine Clinic at ETSU Family Medicine Associates? You can expect a distinct (and probably new for you) approach to your healthcare. At the Integrative Medicine clinic, we blend the best of Family medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine and Osteopathic medicine in a healing oriented approach emphasizing the whole person.
What does this approach look like?
After arriving to our clinic and checking in, one of our nursing staff will check your vital signs including your temperature, blood pressure, pulse, weight and height (just like at a regular doctors visit). You will then be brought to a clinic room where you will be seen by one of our physicians trained in Family medicine and Integrative medicine. Your physician, together with you, will do a thorough review of your medical history, social history, lifestyle, exercise, diet, sleep patterns, life stressors, spiritual practices and even your bathroom habits we will look at EVERYTHING! Our goal is to know the whole you, which will allow us to create an Integrative medicine treatment plan specific for you. Your treatment plan will include a mixture of the best evidence based treatments available in both modern medicine as well as complementary medicine including Acupuncture, Osteopathic manipulation, and Mind-Body medicine.
