Short Bio:
SUSAN D. FIELDS, L.C.S.W., received her Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, in May 1993, and completed her certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, state of Tennessee, in December 1995. Mrs. Fields has been a Mandatory Pre-Screening Agent since 2006 for the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities.
Mrs. Fields worked as a psychotherapist through the Frontier Mental Health System from 1992 through 1997, in the Department of Children and Youth, serving in Johnson City, Erwin, and Bristol, Tennessee. She later joined ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, from 1997 through 2006, as a clinical assistant professor providing education to psychiatric residents in the field of child and family intervention, as well as maintaining a psychotherapy practice. During her tenure at the Department of Psychiatry she provided treatment as well as training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder.
Mrs. Fields joined the Department of Internal Medicine in February 2007. Along with providing psychotherapy services for our patients at the Kingsport and Johnson City, offices, she also provides services for the Division of Infectious Diseases. Mrs. Fields accepts new patient appointments from outside of the ETSU system as well.
