Strategic Plan
Strategic Plan 2014-2020
The college’s 2014-2019 Strategic Plan (later extended through 2020) laid out goals, specific objectives, outcome measures, and targets in six over-arching areas: education, research, service and applied public health, diversity, workforce development, and resources. The college monitored its progress in achieving those objectives on an annual basis and systematically used the evaluation findings for continuous improvement.
The ETSU College of Public Health is the school of choice for students who want an exceptional educational experience in a world-class environment.
The Development of the 2014-2020 Strategic Plan
In January 2012, the college Leadership Council held a retreat to outline the 2014-19 strategic plan development process and to further assure the quality of existing academic programs. This resulted in a three-part process plan that was presented for discussion at the spring 2012 college-wide faculty and staff meeting. The plan called for the creation of four internal planning workgroups representing faculty, staff and students, five professional discipline-specific advisory groups, and three community advisory committees.
The Leadership Council identified three over-arching principles for this strategic planning process: creating the best possible student experience; delivering consistently world-class education; and conducting research that advances the publics health. The 2014-2019 strategic plan, developed through this highly participatory faculty-led process, articulated six strategic focus areas for the college: education, research, service and applied public health, diversity, workforce, and resources, and laid out goals and objectives in each area.
