KNOXVILLE – TBR approved ETSU’s
proposal for a Doctor of Philosophy in
Environmental Health Sciences.
Dr. Phil Scheuerman, chair of Environmental Health
at ETSU, said the Ph.D. program will be required in
order for the university to establish its own
free-standing College of Public Health.
“Our curriculum is designed to promote the
environmental health sciences and identify, prevent
and manage disease and injury,” Scheuerman
said. “Graduates will receive training to
conduct in-depth research at the university level
and for positions within governmental, private and
voluntary organizations.” The average time
for completion of this program is five years, he
added.
The program is set to begin following THEC
approval.
