The Niswonger VILLAGE at the ETSU Eastman Valleybrook Campus
Once students learn the basic skills, how do we know that they can apply them in the real world—especially in low-resource situations, such as following natural or man-made disasters?
The Niswonger VILLAGE (Virtual International Living and Learning Across Global Environments) at the ETSU Eastman Valleybrook Campus is a public health “simulation lab” that replicates how people live and work in low-resource settings.
Using role playing, “case studies,” and simulated scenarios, students face “real-world” challenges, and gain confidence in their ability to make a difference in the lives of other people.
