The B.U.C.S. Academy Program is designed to give entering first-time college students a solid foundation before they start their First Year. Our FREE 3-week summer program will help students to jump start their college career. Participants will earn three free credit hours before their first year of college during this program. Through this program students will get to know new friends, build relationships, and form a network of people who will support them throughout their college career.

Students will also participate in ETSU’s QUEST and Preview programs the week before fall classes begin and will continue in the program through the academic year.

The fall portion of the program is a natural extension of the summer program. It will begin on the first day of Fall classes and continue through the sophomore year. The students will take one fall required classes as a group and will participate in bi-weekly programming that will reinforce and extend their studentship skills, career exploration, and additional topics that were explored in their summer program.

During the FREE 3-week summer program students will:

  • Free housing, meals, and entertainment
  • Meet new friends and form relationships on campus
  • Earn college credit early through a group Student Learning Experience
    • ETSU 1020 during the summer program
    • CSCI 1100 during fall semester
  • Become familiar with ETSU through campus and community enrichment experiences
  • Grow as a leader through community service and weekly leadership seminars
  • Meet with staff during bi-weekly check-ins
  • Receive weekly tutoring sessions provided by:
    • Trio Student Support Services
    • The Center for Academic Achievement
