JOHNSON CITY (May 12, 2020) – East Tennessee State University College of Nursing’s online Doctor of Nursing Practice Program (DNP) is among the top 20 in the nation, according to a new ranking by Learn.org.
ETSU ranked 18th, in the “Best Online DNP Programs” listing released this month.
ETSU’s DNP program is a doctoral degree focused on rural clinical practice in primary care settings. The program prepares advanced practice nurses and executive nurse leaders to assess and evaluate evidence from research and translate or use the findings to affect practice change and enhance and promote quality of care.
The program is offered in an online/blended format in which students complete most coursework online with required on-campus intensive sessions three times per year. Concentrations include executive leadership, family nurse practitioner, adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner and psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner.
“I am proud of our program and of our graduates,” said Dr. Wendy Nehring, dean of the College of Nursing. “Our DNP alumni serve as leaders, educators and mentors throughout the state. We are pleased that, once again, this program has been recognized nationally and that our graduates are making a difference in the lives of patients and in health care.”
