JOHNSON CITY (Sept. 9, 2021) – Country music artist Hayden Coffman will perform live during tailgating festivities before East Tennessee State University’s football home opener this Saturday, Sept. 11, from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Sponsored by Pepsi and Buctainment, Coffman’s performance will take place at parking lot 21 adjacent to the ETSU parking garage and Warf-Pickel Hall.
At age 24, Coffman is enjoying sold-out shows with a touring schedule of more than 100 dates a year and is racking up streaming and sales numbers unheard of for a self-funded, independent country artist. His latest single, “Better Off,” was released Aug. 3 and reached number 4 on the iTunes Country charts and number 18 on iTunes All-Genre sales, and the video reached 1 million plays on YouTube in three weeks. His other singles include “Good as it Gets” and “Tennessee.”
The Knoxville native played baseball while attending Cumberland University. There, Coffman discovered his passion for music and quickly decided to pursue it full time. Soon, he developed an ear for an infectious melody and catchy lyric, proving himself adept with both a down-home country-pop hook and the energy of an arena-sized rock show.
Coming off a win over Vanderbilt on Sept. 4, the ETSU Buccaneer football team will take on UVA-Wise on Saturday, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. in William B. Greene Jr. Stadium. For information, visit ETSUBucs.com.
