JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University’s Cesar Gracia, chief of police and director of Public Safety, has been nominated for a national honor.
“Campus Safety Magazine” named Gracia as a finalist for its Campus Safety Director of the Year.
“This award was a complete team effort,” he said. “This prestigious nomination wouldn’t have been possible without their sacrifice and dedication to our community policing initiative. It is such an honor to have myself, our department and our university being recognized for our dedication to keeping our campus safe.”
Gracia came to ETSU in late 2020. Prior to that, he served for five years as dean of campus safety and chief of police at Lincoln Memorial University. In that position, he provided leadership, direction and management for the police and security department and its programs, services and activities.
He is a graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Training Academy, and he holds a B.A. in criminal justice and a Master of Arts in liberal studies with a concentration in criminal justice, both from ETSU.
The winner of the award will be announced at the organization’s conference in Las Vegas in July.
