ETSU inducting new ROTC Hall of Fame members
East Tennessee State University’s ROTC Program is inducting new members into its Hall of Fame. The storied ROTC program, a unit assigned to ETSU for more than half a century, has commissioned over 1,500 second lieutenants.
The Hall of Fame class of 2023 will be honored in a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Grand Soldiers Ballroom at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City. The event is free and open to the public and corresponds with ETSU Homecoming.
The inductees include:
Gary McAllister
a retired colonel. He graduated from ETSU in 1983, serving in the Buccaneer Battalion for three years. He had a distinguished military career and continues to support the community through various leadership roles.
Dr. Wilsie Bishop
former vice president for Academic Affairs and interim provost at ETSU. Bishop served ETSU for 43 years in a variety of leadership roles. She was a “tenacious advocate and supporter of the ETSU Buccaneer Battalion program,” ROTC officials said.
Charles “Chuck” Rambo
a retired colonel. Rambo will be posthumously honored. A 1994 graduate of ETSU, his distinguished military career spanned 28 years.
The university has a long and established history of helping veterans, and has secured
the respected Military Friendly designation for more than a decade.
