ETSU again hosting Bands of America
Event is Saturday, Oct. 21, and features local bands.
East Tennessee State University will again host one of the Bands of America regional championships, an esteemed honor that only a few dozen locations across the United States enjoy.
The event begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the ETSU Ballad Health Athletic Center.
“We are so excited to host this event again and meet the scores of talented students participating,” said Dr. Joe Moore, director of athletic bands and an associate professor
in the Department of Music at ETSU. “This means so much to ETSU, the community and the entire Appalachian Highlands.”
High school bands from across the nation will compete. A number of Tennessee bands
will perform, including Elizabethton High School at 4 p.m. followed by Dobyns-Bennett
at 4:15 p.m.
The ETSU Marching Bucs, who have enjoyed a dramatic resurgence and have made national headlines for their selection to the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, are scheduled to play at 4:30 p.m.
