East Tennessee State University’s beloved ice rink is returning to campus, opening for the season during the Holiday Lights Celebration on Nov. 18 from 6:30-9 p.m.

This year, thanks to our partnership with Brightspeed, a leading fiber internet service provider focused on empowering more homes with ultrafast, reliable connectivity, the outdoor synthetic ice-skating rink will be free to ETSU students, faculty and staff with valid ETSU ID, and open to the community with a $5 skate rental for all ages. Our opening night event of the rink will be free to ALL community members and feature special performances by ETSU music ensembles, a giveaway for the first 100 skaters, and snacks including popcorn, cupcakes, churros, hot cocoa and cider.

The rink is surrounded by campus holiday lights and located on the ETSU University Commons, adjacent to the D.P Culp Student Center. The 70-foot-long rink is made of Swiss-engineered synthetic ice that mimics the consistency of real ice. Skaters wear real ice skates to glide along its surface.

The community can stop by the rink after the lighting ceremony or visit during regular hours until Dec. 21. The rink will be open on Thursdays through Sundays, closing on Thanksgiving weekend.

The skating rink hours are:

Thursdays and Fridays, 5-9 p.m.

Saturdays, noon-7 p.m.

Sundays, 2-7 p.m.
