What to Know Before Withdrawing Due to the Disaster

The ETSU community is committed to supporting our students affected by the Hurricane Helene disaster. This commitment extends beyond physical needs—we want to help you protect your academic record while you help your family, friends and community heal.

Before you decide to withdraw from classes, we encourage you to speak with university staff members who can connect you to resources that may help you complete one or more classes successfully this semester.

The following resources are available to students considering withdrawal this fall:

Submit a care report for yourself to connect to the Dean of Student staff.
Through this form, you can request emergency funding, help with food, housing or other basic needs and mental health support. A member of the staff will connect with you to discuss your needs.

Discuss your plans with a representative from your college.
Speak with your college about the resources you need to complete the semester successfully and/or plan your return to ETSU if you ultimately decide to withdraw.

Connect with the ETSU Counseling Center.
The ETSU Counseling Center provides personal counseling for students, as well as outreach and referrals.  Students may access the ETSU Counseling Center at (423) 439-3333.

The Counseling Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and is located on the 3rd floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center. Telehealth/Zoom services are also available.

The Bucs Press 2 service is available 24/7/365 by dialing (423) 439-4841 and pressing 2 to speak to a counselor.

Connect with Veterans Affairs.

Military-affiliated students should connect with the Office of Military and Veteran Services to find relevant resources and discuss how changes to enrollment could affect your benefits.

Find ways to get help.
