East Tennessee State University and Wilkes Community College (WCC) of North Carolina are partnering to provide transfer pathways for students who earn an associate of applied science degree to complete one of 10-plus bachelor’s degree programs.
“We are excited to support students’ professional and personal goals by providing a seamless pathway for those pursuing associate degrees in technical areas to earn a bachelor's degree in applied science at ETSU,” said Dr. Jill LeRoy-Frazier, chair of ETSU’s Division of Cross-Disciplinary Studies.
ETSU’s President Dr. Brian Noland, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Kimberly McCorkle and Associate Provost for Curriculum Dr. Bill Flora met with Wilkes Community College President Mike Rodgers for a formal signing event on Nov. 8 at the Model Mill Building in Johnson City.
ETSU’s mascot Bucky and WCC’s mascot were in attendance, shaking hands as a sign of partnership between schools.
“This articulation agreement is an excellent opportunity for working, allied health professionals to obtain an advanced degree,” said Dr. Ester Verhovsek-Hughes, chair of Allied Health Sciences at ETSU.
“Courses are offered 100% online to fit their schedules and flexibility in course selection. Advisers work with each student to develop a program of study that prepares them for advancements in their field.”
The new partnership offers 14 different degree pathways:
“This partnership with ETSU further strengthens the relationship with Wilkes Community College and highlights the quality of education we offer to our students in Wilkes, Ashe and Alleghany counties,” said Rodgers.
“The 14 articulation and transfer agreements will expand the students’ opportunities to continue their path for lifelong learning.”
