Spanish for Health Care Graduate Certificate

Eliminate Language Barriers with Spanish-Speaking Patients

Earn Your Certificate in Spanish for Health Care

Evidence shows that the health care outcomes for Spanish-speaking patients are much better when they work with a practitioner who speaks some Spanish.

Help your Spanish-speaking patients feel seen and heard during their health care encounter by earning your Graduate Certificate in Health Care Spanish at East Tennessee State University.

Over the course of this program, you will learn how to speak and listen to your patients in their native language, with a specific focus on terminology and grammar used in health care settings. You’ll also gain a solid understanding of social and cultural issues related to the Hispanic population and health care.

Our program is designed with busy schedules in mind. Your first three courses are completely online with opportunities to schedule face-to-face sessions to practice your Spanish. The final course is an elective that places you in a predominantly Spanish-speaking area to enhance your skills.

This certificate can be taken by current ETSU students and working professionals.
