Arts and Culture Specialist

Role Description
Responsible for technical support of artistic and cultural productions and events. Positions in this role may supervise the work of others; however, this is not the primary function of the role. Competencies for this role are usually gained through specialized training, and/or experience in a specialty area specific to the position responsibilities. Specialized and progressively responsible experience is required as the level increases.
Typical Functions:
Designs, builds, creates, and repairs props, costumes, music, lighting, scenes, or
other materials for productions.
Ensures creative work is thematically and period correct for production.
Performs research to complete technical tasks.
Performs specialized technical skills utilizing various forms of instruments, equipment,
tools, and technology.
Provides consultative services to others in the area of specialty.
Maintains and builds up inventory.
Leads and completes special projects.
Consults with clients to understand needs and develops products to meet needs.
Develops and delivers training.
Assists in proposal development.
Organizes, coaches, mentors, supervises and/or provides work direction to staff, students,
and external talent.
Ensures compliance with applicable union and safety standards.
Levels
Arts and Culture Specialist 1Performs routine, standardized, well-defined tasks following standard policies and
guidelines. Education/Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Technical training or degree in a relevant field preferred. |
Arts and Culture Specialist 2Tasks are varied in nature and require problem-solving and critical thinking skills
to complete assignments. Education/Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Technical training or degree in a relevant field preferred. |
Arts and Culture Specialist 3Responsible for specialized functions in a discrete area. Education/Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
