Data Analyst

Role Description
Responsible for data analytics. This position may supervise the work of others; however, this is secondary to the primary function of the role. Competencies for this role are usually gained through formal education, specialized training, and/or experience in a program or specialty area specific to the position responsibilities. Specialized and progressively responsible experience is required as the level increases.
Typical Functions:
Compiles, analyzes, and manages a variety of data through the use of statistical analysis
and data interpretation.
Creates reports and presentations to assist in decision-making processes.
Synthesizes data from multiple sources.
Determines the most appropriate way to display data.
Presents findings to management, researchers, and stakeholders.
Writes queries to extract and gather data.
Manages databases.
Identifies data trends and outliers.
Identifies errors and discrepancies in data and data collection procedures.
Audits data.
Evaluates current and future data needs and implements procedures and best practices
to ensure data quality.
Completes special projects.
Develops and delivers training.
Coaches, mentors, supervises and/or provides work direction to program and/or project
staff.
Levels
Data Analyst 1Assignments are clearly defined, but work is carried out independently. Education/Experience:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Advanced degree preferred. Applicable certification may be required. |
Data Analyst 2Works on complex issues requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors. Education/Experience:Typically requires an advanced degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Applicable certification may be required. |
Data Analyst 3Senior-level individual contributor working on complex interrelated data projects. Education/Experience:Typically requires an advanced degree in a relevant field and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. PhD preferred. Applicable certification may be required. |
