Role Description
Responsible for supporting and managing the administrative functions of graduate medical education (GME) programs, fellowship programs, and compliance initiatives within academic medical institutions. This role ensures that medical education programs are aligned with institutional policies and accreditation standards, facilitating the smooth operation of residency and fellowship programs. Responsibilities include coordinating the scheduling of educational activities, managing program documentation, and ensuring the timely submission of reports to accreditation bodies such as the ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education). This role works closely with faculty, department leadership, and external agencies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Typical Functions:
Coordinates the daily operations of residency and fellowship programs, including scheduling
educational activities, clinical rotations, and exams.
Maintains up-to-date program documentation, including records, evaluations, and accreditation
requirements.
Ensures that residency and fellowship programs comply with institutional policies
and accreditation standards (e.g., ACGME).
Prepares for and participates in accreditation reviews, site visits, and program audits
to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Assists faculty and program directors in implementing curriculum changes, developing
program evaluations, and ensuring educational objectives are met.
Manages communication between faculty, trainees, and administration regarding program
updates, policies, and expectations.
Maintains and manages databases related to trainee performance, milestones, and program
compliance.
Generates reports for accreditation bodies, department leadership, and other stakeholders
to ensure transparency and adherence to educational goals.
Plans and coordinates program events, including orientations, workshops, graduation
ceremonies, and committee meetings.
Facilitates meetings for program evaluation and improvement, including faculty meetings
and trainee feedback sessions.
Acts as a liaison between medical departments, trainees, faculty, external agencies,
and accreditation bodies.
Ensures effective communication regarding program changes, deadlines, accreditation
updates, and institutional policies.
Levels
