Public Safety Management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of multiple specialty functions related to area of service. Knowledge of applicable regulatory agencies. Role Description
Responsible for providing leadership, direction, training, and management for public safety operations. The Public Safety Management role sets strategic direction and develops and manages budgets. This role interprets, sets, and develops processes, procedures, policies, initiatives, and identifies alternative methods to accomplish goals while maintaining and ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Management level roles have the management and development of people as a major accountability and have direct reports. This role accomplishes goals through overseeing their areas of responsibility, planning, managing resources, prioritizing, and directing the responsibilities of employees.

Education/Experience:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience required. Applicable license/certifications may be required. |
Public Safety Management 2Manages operations, budget, and personnel. Education/Experience:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and five years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience required. Applicable license/certifications may be required. |
Public Safety Management 3Manages operations, budget, and personnel of a large, complex unit with multiple specialty
areas that have extensive impact. Education/Experience:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and seven years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience required. Advanced degree preferred. Applicable license/certifications may be required. |
Public Safety Management 4Manages operations, budget, and personnel of multiple units with broad scope, including, but not limited to law enforcement, emergency management, and environmental, health, and safety. Education/Experience:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and seven years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
