Role Description
Responsible for providing interpreting, translating, or transcribing services for individuals with disabilities by providing access for hearing impaired students in courses and other university-sponsored activities.
Typical Functions:
Provides real-time sign language interpreting for hearing-impaired students during
lectures, discussions, and university-sponsored activities.
Creates written transcriptions of spoken content from lectures, meetings, and events
to ensure access for students with hearing impairments.
Evaluates and recommends appropriate assistive technologies to enhance accessibility
for students with disabilities.
Works with instructors to ensure course materials and presentations are accessible,
providing guidance on inclusive teaching practices.
Advocates for the rights and needs of students with disabilities, ensuring they receive
appropriate accommodations and support.
Levels
Teaching and Learning Accessibility Specialist 1Provides transcribing services for individuals with disabilities. Education/Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Applicable certification may be preferred. |

Education/Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
