TEACHING AND LEARNING EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of early childhood education. Communication and organizational skills. Ability to teach children while educating college students on theory, lessons and development. Ability to teach, mentor, and evaluate college students.
Role Description
Responsible for providing classroom management, care of children, curriculum planning, teaching and mentoring of college students in a learning lab environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations. Competencies for this role are typically gained through specialized education and training.
Typical Functions:
Establishes and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment that promotes
learning and respect.
Implements behavior management strategies to address student needs and ensure a conducive
learning atmosphere.
Provides attentive care and supervision of children to ensure their safety and well-being
during learning activities.
Monitors children's emotional and physical development, addressing any concerns with
appropriate interventions.
Develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans that align with
educational standards and objectives.
Adapts instructional materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of children
and enhance their learning experiences.
Levels
Teaching and Learning Early Childhood Education 1Supports classroom by providing for personal needs of children in classroom setting. Education/Experience:Typically requires an associate’s degree and one year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Child Development Associate credential, and CPR and First Aid certifications. |
Teaching and Learning Early Childhood Education 2Collaborates with teachers to provide high quality care, supervision, and education
for children. Education/Experience:Typically requires an associate’s degree and two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Child Development credential, CPR and First Aid certifications. |
Teaching and Learning Early Childhood Education 3Leads classroom of children while implementing lesson plans for college students to
observe. Education/Experience:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Child Development credential/State Teaching Licensure, CPR and First Aid certifications. |
