TEACHING AND LEARNING TUTOR

Role Description
Responsible for enhancing students' academic achievement and overall success. Provides tailored strategies and personalized assistance to students, helping them navigate their coursework and improve their understanding of the subject matter. Works closely with students to identify specific areas where they may be struggling and develops targeted interventions to address these challenges. Competencies for this role are typically gained through specialized and on-the-job training.
Typical Functions:
Evaluates individual student performance and learning styles to create customized
tutoring plans that address specific academic challenges.
Provides clear explanations and demonstrations of concepts, using a variety of teaching
methods to cater to different learning preferences.
Teaches effective study techniques, time management skills, and organizational strategies
that empower students to take charge of their academic journey.
Works in partnership with teachers and academic staff to align tutoring efforts with
classroom instruction and curriculum goals.
Levels
Teaching and Learning Tutor 1
Assists students in improving academic achievement by meeting them on a regular basis
to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Education/Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience, or equivalent and college courses in subject matter. |
Teaching and Learning Tutor 2
Assesses student performance and knowledge, identifies areas that need improvement,
adapts learning resources to student needs, provides instruction, and helps to problem
solve on assignments. Education/Experience:Typically requires a high school diploma and three years of relevant experience, or equivalent and college courses in subject matter. |
