Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in scheduling and overseeing activities and events, and maintaining building security. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Approves and schedules use of departmental facilities for all concerts, recitals, rehearsals, music competition events, workshops, auditions, Continuing Education classes and use of practice rooms.
Supervises building activities; supervises support staff and student employees responsible for overseeing activities conducted after normal business hours; supervises setup of rooms and/or sets up rooms for all scheduled uses; supervises and participates in tape recordings of concerts and music events; maintains building security and enforces building rules and regulations; contacts Security Office in case of emergency.
Supervises and participates in inventory control and issues such items as musical instruments, tape recorders, audio equipment and other equipment; inspects for damage upon return and levies fines.
Receives money from various fees and fines; accounts for money (maintains accounts receivable records).
Manages repair budget.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of audio and recording equipment and musical instruments.
Ability to oversee the conduct of multiple events.
Ability to plan and organize the work of others.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to attend to details.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to account for inventory and funds.
Ability to operate recording equipment.
Willingness to work until job demands are met.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate with two years experience scheduling and supervising multiple activities and recording music; background of demonstrated ability to work with a large variety of the public.
