Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in processing forms and records, maintaining filing systems, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Compiles and/or obtains data and materials.
Completes records, form letters, lists or other documents.
Answers telephone and personal inquiries providing routine information.
Sorts, assembles and arranges various items systematically.
Locates, files, and retrieves items.
Operates various office equipment where prior training is not required.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Knowledge of general rules, regulations, procedures and functions related to clerical office work.
Ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately and with reasonable speed.
Ability to work independently on a variety of responsible clerical tasks.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public, and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school including or supplemented by courses in general office practices.
