Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in routinely interfacing with users of production services, coordinating the flow of work through various phases and tasks according to pre-established procedures and schedules, maintaining the tape library and other related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Receives source documents and requests for services from users.
Monitors the flow of work through various phases of preparation and computer execution.
Assists with editing and verification of input/output data for assigned user applications and returns output to users.
Maintains records of standard job tasks and procedures to adequately monitor work flow.
Maintains daily work schedule and progress of actual work to answer inquiries concerning such progress and to inform users of departures from the expected schedule.
Performs general receptionist duties for the computer center by referring telephone and personal requests to appropriate staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of functions and use of data processing equipment.
Knowledge of principles and practices of maintaining a magnetic tape basic library.
Ability to prioritize and schedule data processing work.
Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions of a moderately complex nature.
Ability to handle typical receptionist duties.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with users and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school including or supplemented by a basic course in data processing at a trade or technical school desired. Experience in or a certificate in data processing helpful.
