Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in providing information concerning specific facilities and their availability, making reservations for use of the facilities, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Provides information in person or by telephone on various campus facilities such as meeting rooms, banquet facilities, menus, room set-ups, sound and lighting, etc.
Maintains a master reservation calendar for other campus facilities.
Types information on forms to be given to person involved in reserving facilities and revises this information as needed.
Insures that rental agreements are signed; prepares statements of rental charges; writes receipts and maintains files.
Works with food service regarding information on menus, prices, banquet arrangements, etc.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Knowledge of campus facilities available for reservations.
Knowledge of basic posting methods.
Ability to type accurately.
Ability to maintain accurate files and records.
Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school including or supplemented by general secretarial/clerical courses. Some experience in the secretarial/clerical field, preferably on campus.
