Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in coordinating and reviewing the general maintenance function. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and schedules work for General Maintenance.
Inspects and reports on the status of general maintenance work in progress and completed.
Coordinates with other supervisors for the scheduling of work to be integrated with or accomplished by the crafts or commercially.
Orders materials, supplies, services, and/or equipment.
Performs personnel administrative functions.
Maintains files, records, and logs.
Works as an electrician, carpenter, or air conditioning/heating mechanic as required.
Attends and participates in supervisors meetings.
Trains subordinate personnel in the efficient use of materials and supplies and the proper use and control of equipment and tools.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to plan, organize and schedule work.
Ability to train and supervise employees and to evaluate performance.
Ability to forecast needs, and to order services, supplies and equipment.
Ability to prepare general specifications for maintenance and repair work.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to read, interpret and evaluate blueprints and plans.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or GED; four years experience in building maintenance, repair and renovation. Two years experience scheduling and supervising maintenance repair and/or renovation.
