Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in a lead work capacity in analyzing graduate students' and/or senior students' records for compliance with degree requirements for graduation and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Serves in a lead work capacity to other employees answering questions and maintaining the work flow.
Reviews work and assists subordinates.
Receives applications for degree candidacy, transcripts, all information pertinent to the students' program.
Receives requests to graduate and examines students' records verifying all requirements for graduation.
Notifies students, deans, and advisers of any discrepancies in qualifications for graduation.
Maintains current policies and procedures file on programs and requirements.
Advises students on programs and requirements.
Answers questions concerning students' qualifications or discrepancies in qualifications for graduation.
Composes routine correspondence as required.
Assists in registration and preparation for graduation exercises.
Prepares lists and submits names of degree candidates for supervisory approval.
Arranges documents, letters, and other appropriate materials in students' folders.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge and business English and arithmetic.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Knowledge of organizational rules, regulations, and procedures.
Knowledge of various school curriculum requirements.
Ability to direct the work of others.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to extract information from conversations and/or documents.
Ability to type accurately at an acceptable rate of speed.
Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience in admissions and records at a college or university.
