Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in assigning students to residence halls, receiving and recording room deposits, keeping records of housing assignments, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares and mails housing contracts.
Assigns students to residence halls.
Maintains current records of housing assignments.
Composes correspondence to students and parents answering questions or providing general information.
Receipts room reservation prepayments, balances money received and prepares cash report for business office.
Makes changes in room assignments when necessary.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of general organizational methods and procedures pertaining to the student housing reservation function.
Knowledge of simple contracts.
Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
Ability to compose original correspondence.
Ability to maintain current records and files.
Ability to evaluate situations and make reports.
Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience involving public skills, some management skills, and contact with the public.
