Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Schedules and monitors craft shop assignments and performs administrative tasks. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares and distributes weekly work schedules.
Receives and reviews maintenance requests.
Computes unit costs and labor, equipment, materials, etc.
Performs on-site work inspections, checking work for completeness, progress and quality.
Identifies and reports problems such as recurring equipment problems, poor workmanship, slow work, etc.
Keeps requester informed on job progress and completion expectations.
Gathers data for project cost analysis, estimates, budget revisions, etc.
Provides forecasting data for projects planning and suggests cost saving measures when possible.
Maintains files, records, and logs.
Supervises dispatcher, including training, guidance of routing procedures, problem resolution and assignment of work.
Occasionally performs dispatching tasks.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to plan and schedule the work of others.
Ability to maintain a filing system.
Knowledge of general maintenance functions.
Ability to keep records and make reports.
Ability to work with computer programs.
Knowledge of job order cost system.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; four years experience or related training in building maintenance, repair and renovation; two years experience in scheduling and/or supervising maintenance repair and renovation.
