Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed as a lead worker in the moving of equipment from one location to another, storing of new and used furniture, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee and carry out assigned tasks in moving of equipment, materials or supplies from one department to another by the instructions of department heads.
Review work tickets daily and plan activities in accordance with priorities of requests.
Oversee and assist in the storage of new and used furniture.
Oversee and assist in unloading delivery trucks and checking and receiving documents.
Oversee and assist with delivery of furniture, school supplies, etc. to various offices on campus.
Oversee off-campus hauling.
Assists in day to day operation of the warehouse.
Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the geographic area of campus and locations of buildings and various departments within these buildings.
Knowledge of the practices to effectively lead others in a variety of work routines.
Knowledge of the methods of moving equipment and furniture to minimize breakage and damage.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to plan and organize work routines.
Ability to oversee the work of others.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to operate heavy trucks.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the faculty, the public, and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience in warehousing related work. Possession of Tennessee Operator License as issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety.
